Is it possible that Lithuania awaits the final episode of this farcical soap opera? (0)
|
Today, on returning from a hearing, I read an appeal made by the bailiff, Marekas Petrovskis on the internet website 'Delfi' that the Venckai family should approach him.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, I would like to direct an appeal to the highest office bearers of the country - Her Excellency the President, the Honorable Prime Minister and the Honorable Chairman of the Seimas.

Urgent! Help is needed! Attention to journalists!!!! (5)
|
Eight months ago Drasius Kedys, a father of a small daughter, sent to foreign journalists this letter, hoping that the journalists will help to find the truth in the pedophile case, which was blocked in Lithuania by the high Security Department officials and some prosecutors in the General Prosecutors Office. Eight months has passed, and Drasius Kedys was found killed. The Kedainiai court few days ago has returned this small girl to her mother, which was accused by Drasius Kedys by selling their small daughter to pedophiles. Hundreds of people are standing at Drasius Kedys sister's house and are protecting the small girl form pedophiles, because people know: if the girl goes with her mother, she will be killed as her father was killed a month ago, because the Drasius Kedys' daughter is the witness and can tell and recognize the pedophiles, who were raping this small girl. They say, that some pedophiles are the agents of Lithuanian Security Department, and the Lithuanian Security Department is protecting them from disclosing (course they are in high positions in court and other institutions), that's why they killed Drasius Kedys, a father of raped girl, and can kill the small girl as well.
That's why Lithuanian society is asking for help of international journalists and international human protection organisations: press our President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, the Chairman of Parliament Irena Degutiene, the Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius not to get the Drasius Kedys' daughter to the hands of pedophiles – IN THAT WAY THE SMALL GIRL WILL BE KILLED.

A Tent and Hundreds of the Girl’s Defenders at the House of N. Venckienė. Road Blocked (0)
|
After the Kėdainiai District Court ordered the return of the girl to Stankūnaitė L., the house of N. Venckienė (the temporary guardian of D.Kedys‘ daughter) was surrounded by the public who did not allow the bailiff and the policemen who arrived with him, access to N. Venckienė and the girl.
The People stood defiantly in defence of Drąsius Kedys‘ daughter confronting the police – as a human shield and with prayer, “Our Father”. Together with people, the girl is being defended from the paedophile clan by the priest Jonas Varkala; and Saulius Stoma a member of the Seimas is already on the scene for a few hours.
As night fall, people remain steadfast. They keep a watchful eye on neighbouring streets, too, as attempts were made to get into Neringa Venckienė’s house over the neighbour’s fence.

NO to parade of the homosexuals in Vilnius! (1)
|
We ask the Mayor to cancel the permit for European homosexuals to organize a parade in Vilnius.
We need neither officials of the EU Committee – the intercessors of the homosexuals - nor meetings of any members of sexual minorities in Lithuania. Vilnius is not a suitable place for solution of the homosexuals’ problems.
Therefore, we claim that we do not assent to organization and propagation of any events of the homosexuals in Vilnius. We militate for tolerance, but not for exceptional promotion and agitation.

Speech at the plenary session of the Parliamentary assembly of the OSCE (0)
|
There have been celebrations on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the so call “fall” of the so-called “iron curtain”. Of course this is rather natural for the new bourgeoisie that emerged in the former SU and the former socialist countries in Central and Eastern Europe. But what about the people, the working people in particular? What is there for them to celebrate?

Who is who in the Post-Soviet Lithuania? (0)
|
The more time elapses since the eleventh of March, 1990, the clearer it becomes that post-soviet reality does essentially differ from the fine-sounding declarations of those days. Basically, this difference is shown by the fact that the post-soviet Lithuanian state denies its citizens the Human right to make use of the land either acquired by themselves or by way of inheritance. Whenever this Human rights is being safeguarded in a state, we call this state a state under the rule of law (carrying out its direct functions), whenever this Human right is being denied, it is by no means a state under the rule of law.
Far from safeguarding these Human rights, the law-giver of post-soviet Lithuania –time and again- is arbitrarily creating ever new „laws“ regulating the denial of these rights (be it the „land reform“ or the so-called „restoration of rights of ownership“).

Did Obama really fire the chairman of General Motors? (0)
|
Nothing like it has ever happened. The President of the United States, the elected representative of the people, has just told the head of General Motors -- a company that's spent more years at #1 on the Fortune 500 list than anyone else -- "You're fired!"
I simply can't believe it. This stunning, unprecedented action has left me speechless for the past two days. I keep saying, "Did Obama really fire the chairman of General Motors? The wealthiest and most powerful corporation of the 20th century? Can he do that? Really? Well, damn! What else can he do?!"

94% of all outgoing E-mail is SPAM (0)
|
The amount of SPAM is on the rise in the world, and at this point it has reached a dramatic level, indeed. DEAC, a provider of outsourced IT services in Latvia, has studied the flow of E-mail among its clients, finding that over the last five years, the amount of SPAM has increased by more than 40%. In 2003, the proportion of SPAM was nearly 50% of all outgoing E-mail, but in 2008, more than 94% of it was SPAM. The new DEAC anti-SPAM system dealt with these easily and prevented them arriving in the E-mail inboxes of the company’s clients.

The Role of the Lithuanian Judge in the European Court of Human Rights (0)
|
As far as the return of real estate to the original land owners in Lithuania is concerned, it is important to stress that the situation differs completely from the way in which this problem is being dealt with in the other „Reform States“ of Eastern Europe. In Latvia, for example, all the land was quite simply returned to the original owners respectively to their heirs. Even in those cases, where buildings had been erected - on the plots owned by the original owners - during the period of the Russian occupation, the bare land was returned anyway, which procedure left the occupants of such buildings with only one option – to purchase the land from the land-owners for the real market price.

Land reform á la Lithuanian (0)
|
One of the former Lithuanian governments, by „slightly“ modifying the law for the return of land to former land-owners, enabled Lithuanian party-comrades and cunning speculators owning waste land in sandy or swampy regions, practically without any value, to „exchange“ this land for plots in the most valuable residential areas of the big cities as well as for land situated by pleasant lakes and in recreational areas. This amendment, originally meant as a gift for „deserved“ party comrades, has ever since miraculously turned the owners of waste land into multi-millionaires, whereas the legal owners of these valuable residential plots and attractive recreational areas were made beggars by way of this „legal trick“.

These are companies which increasingly feel the need for services and solutions at the Pan-Baltic level. The unjust though implemented law of post-soviet Lithuania (0)
|
On the morning of 2008-12-24 Elzbieta Jurgelevičienė, a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, received an especially strange letter from the European Court of Human Rights. The very text of the letter received from the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg by Elzbieta Jurgelevičienė on the morning of December 24th, 2008, was drawn up in Strasbourg December 23rd, 2008 (which fact is confirmed by the date of this letter mentioned in the text). On the morning of December 24th, 2008 this letter arrived in the village of Tabariškės, district of Kaunas. This means that a letter sent in Strasbourg, France, by post, did travel only one day minus several hours to reach the place of residence of the above applicant. We asked employees of the central post-office of Kaunas, whether such a speedy delivery of a letter is at all possible. These people assured us that no letter from Strasbourg to Kaunas has ever arrived before the elapse of at least 4 days. As the time in question falls within the period of sending Christmas greetings, this time will be considerably longer. That is why there is only one conclusion to be drawn from these facts: this European Court of Human Rights document was not sent from Strasbourg, but from Lithuanian territory.
